How to handle a negative Quora answer about your company
You cannot delete someone else's Quora answer, and you should not expect Quora to delete it for you. What you can do is change what the page says taken as a whole, which is what both a reader and a search engine actually see.
This is the same mechanic as getting a negative Reddit post out of your search results, with one significant difference: on Quora the answer order is contestable in a way a Reddit thread is not.
Why the Quora page ranks for your brand at all
Two things stack. The question is usually phrased exactly as a worried buyer would search, often your company name plus "legit", "scam" or "worth it". And Quora is a strong domain, so a single thread can take a first-page position for a query your own site has no page for.
It gets worse in AI answers. In Ahrefs' September 2026 analysis, Quora is the sixth most-cited domain in Google AI Overviews. An unanswered complaint is not just a search result, it is a candidate source for what an AI tells someone about you.
Can you get it removed?
Sometimes, and only on the grounds that actually exist.
Quora removes content that breaks its policies: harassment, personal information, plagiarism, impersonation. If the answer does one of those things, report it on that basis and say which policy it breaks.
If it is a real customer with a bad experience, it breaks no rule. Reporting it as spam will not work, and a failed report is not free: it is a record that you tried, and it is the kind of thing that gets screenshotted.
A factually false and damaging statement is a legal question rather than a moderation one. Take advice before sending anything that sounds like a threat, because a legal letter over an honest review is the single most reliable way to turn a small complaint into a large one.
What actually works
Answer the question yourself, with your affiliation stated. Quora's rule is that a user should disclose any relevant affiliations explicitly in an answer or in the credential that appears with the answer. Write as the company, say so, and answer the actual question rather than defending yourself.
This works better than it sounds. A specific, non-defensive reply that acknowledges the problem and says what changed reads as credible to the next person who lands there, and it is the version an AI engine is most likely to quote back.
Get the question answered well by more than one person. Answer order on Quora responds to engagement, not to seniority. A thread with one angry answer says one thing; a thread with one angry answer and three useful ones says something else, and the useful ones can end up above it.
Give the query a better destination. The underlying question, "is this company legitimate", deserves a page on your own site that answers it plainly. That is what brand search result management is for, and it addresses the root cause rather than the symptom.
What does not work
Vote manipulation and sockpuppet accounts. They are against the rules, they are detectable, and enforcement takes the whole account with it, including every legitimate answer attached to it. The downside is not a warning, it is losing the asset you built.
Arguing in the thread. The second reply is where a complaint becomes a controversy. Answer once, well, and stop.
Ignoring it. Unlike a social post, these pages do not decay. A Quora question can rank for years and feed AI answers the entire time.
How long it takes
Months. Answer order shifts over weeks as engagement accumulates, and search results lag behind that. There is no mechanism that makes it fast.
If this is live right now and sitting on your brand name, that is the sort of thing our Quora Marketing service handles, alongside the broader question of why Quora answers get cited by AI search engines.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a negative Quora answer deleted?
Not simply because it is negative. Quora removes content that breaks its policies, such as harassment, doxxing or plagiarism. A critical opinion from a real customer breaks no rule, and reporting it as though it does will fail and wastes the one report you had.
Should I reply to the negative answer directly?
Usually yes, once, calmly, and with your affiliation disclosed. Quora's policy is that a user should disclose any relevant affiliation explicitly in the answer or in the credential shown with it. An undisclosed company reply that gets spotted turns one complaint into a second story.
Will adding my own answer push the negative one down?
It can. Quora orders answers on a question by engagement rather than by date, so a substantive answer that people find useful can outrank an older one. There is no guarantee, and buying votes to force it is against the rules and is detectable.
Why does the Quora page rank so high for my brand name?
Because the question is usually phrased the way people search, often as your brand name plus a doubt, and Quora is a high-authority domain. A single thread can occupy a top result for a query no page on your own site is built to answer.
How long does this take?
Months, not days. The answer order on an active question shifts over weeks as engagement accumulates, and search results follow that with a further lag. Anyone promising removal in days is describing something other than what is possible.
