What Reddit marketing is
Reddit marketing is the work of understanding, participating in and improving what a brand's own customers and critics say about it on Reddit. For most brands it is not an advertising channel. It is the place where the search result that outranks your homepage was written by a stranger three years ago.
It matters for two reasons. Reddit threads rank persistently in Google for brand-plus-modifier searches — your brand name next to "review", "worth it", "scam" or "alternative". And Reddit is unusually heavily represented in the training and retrieval sets behind AI answer engines, so what is said there shapes what ChatGPT or Perplexity tells someone who asks about your category.
This service is for brands whose Reddit presence is currently being written entirely by other people.
How it works
1. Audit what already exists
We map every thread and comment that mentions your brand, product or category, and identify which ones actually rank in Google or surface in AI answers. Most brands discover the damaging content is older and more specific than they assumed, and that the highest-traffic thread is not the one they were worried about.
2. Understand the communities
Each subreddit has its own rules, moderators and tolerance for commercial participation. Some prohibit it outright. Some allow disclosed vendor accounts. Getting this wrong is how brands earn a permanent ban and a new thread about the ban. We read the rules before writing anything.
3. Participate honestly
Genuine answers from people who disclose who they are, in threads where the brand can actually help. This includes answering questions that have nothing to do with buying anything, which is what makes an account credible enough to be believed when the topic does turn to your product.
4. Respond to the negative threads
Some criticism is accurate and the correct response is to acknowledge it and describe the fix. Some is outdated and the correct response is a factual update. Some is a competitor and the correct response is often nothing at all. Knowing which is which is most of the skill.
5. Track what changed
We monitor sentiment across mentions, the ranking positions of the threads that matter, and whether AI answers about your category have started mentioning you.
Who it's for
This is a fit if you have a real product, a category where people research before buying, and a Reddit footprint that is either negative or nonexistent. It works best when the honest story about your brand is better than the one currently ranking.
This is not a fit if you want accurate criticism buried, or you want volume posting from accounts that pretend to be unaffiliated customers. We do not do either. Reddit's rules prohibit undisclosed coordinated promotion, detection is common, and the resulting thread about a brand getting caught is far more damaging and far more permanent than the original complaint.
It is also a poor fit if you need results this month. Community credibility accrues over quarters.

Frequently asked questions
Can you get a negative Reddit post removed?
Usually not, and it is rarely the right goal. Only Reddit admins or a subreddit's moderators can remove content, and they do so for rule violations — not because a brand dislikes it. Posts containing genuinely defamatory claims, doxxing or leaked private information can be reported successfully. For ordinary criticism, the workable path is to respond well and to build enough credible surrounding content that one thread stops being the whole story.
Is it against Reddit's rules for a brand to post?
No, provided you are transparent. Reddit prohibits undisclosed coordinated promotion and vote manipulation, not brand participation. Many subreddits explicitly welcome vendors who identify themselves. The rules vary by community, which is why we read each subreddit's policy before participating.
How long does Reddit marketing take to show results?
Expect movement in search visibility over two to three months and meaningful sentiment change over two to three quarters. Reddit threads rank slowly and persist for years, which cuts both ways: the work is slow to show, then durable once it does.
How much does Reddit marketing cost?
We quote each engagement individually rather than publishing a rate card, because cost depends on how much negative content already exists, how many communities are relevant, and whether you need ongoing participation or crisis response. Tell us your situation and we will scope it honestly.
Do you use bot accounts or upvote services?
No. Vote manipulation and sockpuppet accounts breach Reddit's site-wide rules and are the most common way brands make a reputation problem permanent. Everything we do is attributable to a real account that can withstand scrutiny.
Does Reddit actually affect AI search results?
It appears to matter more than most channels. Reddit content is well represented in the sources answer engines retrieve from, so community consensus about your brand tends to surface in AI-generated recommendations. This is why we treat Reddit and [AI search visibility](/services/ai-search-visibility) as connected work.
